Foreign residents with work restrictions are eligible for our food support

There have never been any restrictions based on where you live or your nationality when using our food support. We have now added foreign residents whose work is restricted due to their residence status to the people eligible for support. This includes, for example, people with “Student” status and people with “Designated Activities” status who are not allowed to work.

Students can generally work only up to 28 hours per week. Some people with “Designated Activities” status, such as some refugee applicants, are not allowed to work. Because of these restrictions, they may have difficulty earning enough income and may face financial hardship.

Gentille continues to operate using only its own funds, without donations, grants, or subsidies. We will continue to review our support and eligibility criteria flexibly, based on actual social needs.
